A Week in Hodge Podge....

In order for me not to ramble on, I figured I could organize better in a numbered post!!

1. Lily had a well check this morning. She weighs a huge 21 pounds! The doctor was happy because she has gained almost 2 pounds in 6 weeks!! This is a great praise!!!

2. On Saturday, we had a BBQ with my sisters. I would like to give props to Wade for cleaning the yard & porch. He also bought me a beautiful hanging basket. I love him very much (more about that later...LOL) Abs & Lexi played in the sprinkler. They had lots of freezing fun!!

3.. On Memorial Day we had a cook-out with my Dad & sisters. The cousins all got to play together. I have included some pics of the family event!!

4. I am so excited! I got a call to work the next Tres Dias weekend. Hopefully, my sister (Angela ) will be attending so I am so happy. The call came out of the sky because I normallly I would never have the time to take on something else of this magnitude, but God in His great timing worked this out perfectly. Props to God!!!
(Special thanks to Wade because I know this means extra work for him. I am so thankful for a husband who supports me!!)

5. For all my happiness, I am also reminded by the events of SCC, Angie & Todd Smith, and now Greg & Nicol Sponberg of the fleeting moments we have with our children. I can't imagine being in their lives. I know that prayer is the only healing that can possibly begin to comfort these parents and families. Looking at all of these tragedies makes me want to hug my girls and keep in mind the small details (which I focus on way too much) is not the truly important stuff.

So this is my week in hodge podge (numbered for my ADD...LOL)!!

Hope you all are having a great week!!!

Much Overdue and late Post

I have been trying all morning to figure out how to make a blog since I have not ever done it before. Jennifer is the one that makes all of our thoughts appear on the blog. But, I thought that I had a Blog that was way overdue.

I wanted to post this over mother's day weekend, but just did not get to it.

What I want to say is the following:

I feel that so often I take my wonderful wife for granted. I know that she often thinks that I view her job of taking care of our family as one that is not that hard. But, what I want her to know and realize is that I am grateful for all that she does to take care of me, Abigail, and Lily. She trys her best to make sure we have a clean house, meals on the table, clothes washed, etc. And, she does this with having people in and out of our house day after day. She is a wonderful mother and wife and friend. I know that she and Abigail have had some rough days here lately. I want her to know that she should not give up in doing well but know that her reward for a job well done is on the way.

I would not want to go through this life with any other person than Jennifer. I waited for so long for God to bring me the right person and I know that He has. There is not a day that goes by that I do not thank God for my wife, I just may not show that thankfulness to her as I should. I know that God has brought her to me and she is the true gift from God.

My challange for any husband that may read these blogs is that you should evaluate how often you show how thankful that you are for the gift that God has given to you in your wife. Our wives put up with a lot from us guys and we need to be more thankful and more eager to show that thankfullness to them.

Jennifer - you are a true and wonderful gift from God. I am sorry if I don't express that enough to you. To quote the Jerry McGuire movie, "You complete Me".

NKOTB & Back In The Day...

I have to share a piece of my youthful past...LOL

The New Kids On The Block have reunited...this is hilarious to me!! They were on the Today show this morning and people, - well really crazy women now (they would have been preteens back in the day) started lining up on Wednesday to see them.

I was a huge fan back in the day but now it all seems quite funny. Someone even had one of the black caps (they were loosely fitted) with the neon green & pink New Kids writing on it.

They sang as medley of all the oldies. They danced the dances and Joey even pulled out his hat with no top in it. Does it get any better?? LOL....LOL...LOL

So I am including useless information as a widget for those who just can't wait for the reunion tour. It is coming to the ATL!!! But I don't think I am cool enough to pull off being a roadie at the great age of 30!!

To all of you....."I'll Be Loving You Forever!!"

Sheltered in the Arms of God

Last night I heard on the news of the passing of Dottie Rambo. I am sure many of you recognize the name and are familar with her songs (We Shall Behold Him, Holy Spirit Thou Art Welcome in this Place, I Call Him Lord, and many others!) She passed away on a bus accident in Missouri at the age of 74.

I would like to share something personal with all of you. One of her songs, (which is the title of this post) was one of my mom's favorite songs. One of the memories I cherish is the day the doctors told her she didn't have long to live (due to the aggressiveness of the cancer) she & my dad had a special friend (with a beautiful voice) sing this song to her in the hospital. I remember this just as if it were yesterday. The nurses all came in and everyone was praying for a miracle. I just knew God wasn't going to let my mom die (she had 3 girls to raise). Well God did take her home on October 27, 1989 and the same friend sang this song at her funeral. (Even as I am typing this, I am just bawling.) I can't hear this song with out thoughts of my awesome mom who loved God with all her heart. I can't imagine how she must have felt knowing that she was going to heaven but to have to leave her family behind. But I know (without a doubt) that she is Sheltered in the Arms of God!! And I can't wait to the day that I can see her and hug her again!!

(I have included the lyrics if you are not familar with them.)

I feel the touch of hands so kind and tender.
They're leading me in the paths that I must trod.
I'll have no fear for Jesus walks beside me
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

So let the storm clouds rage high,
The dark clouds rise,
They don't bother me;
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.
He walks with me,
And naught of earth shall harm me,
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

Soon I shall hear the call from heaven's portals
Come home my child,
It's the last mile you must trod
I'll fall asleep
And wake in God's sweet heaven
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

So let the storm clouds rage high,
The dark clouds rise,
They don't bother me;
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.
He walks with me,
And naught of earth shall harm me,
For I'm sheltered in the arms of God.

Friends & Neighbors...

As many of you know, Wade & I are humongous Selah fans! So I have to share the Friends & Neighbors section in the Daily Citizen. I am thinking a date night w/ the hubbies could be coming! Let me know if you might be interested in going to the concert on May 23! I suppose I will be the unofficial coordinator.

"Two years ago, Nicol Sponberg was dealing with tremendous change. Not only was she a brand new mom, she was also a newcomer to Whitfield County. Then she got a call from an employee of Curb Records in Nashville.

“Crazy In Love,” the third single from her solo album “Resurrection,” was on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and predicted to reach the Top 20. Sponberg, already a multi-Dove Award winner as a former member of the worship trio Selah, was suddenly staring at something completely unexpected.Crossover success.“I was like, ‘What?’ I hadn’t toured or done any promo. It went up the charts on its own,” said Sponberg. The song peaked at No. 13 and was one of the Top 30 most played adult contemporary songs of 2006, according to www.christianmusicplanet.com. Sponberg, 37, can understand the song’s appeal.“It captures that overwhelming feeling of being in love, when you can’t eat or can’t sleep,” she said. “I think everyone can relate to it. It’s just one of those songs where you roll your window down in the summer and blast it.”

When she recorded “Crazy In Love,” Sponberg had just married her husband, Greg, following an intense nine-and-a-half week courtship. The couple met at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in February 2003, when a lovestruck Greg approached Sponberg following a performance by Selah.“I expected his little wife to come around the corner anytime, but one never did,” she said. “I had never met anyone like him before. I didn’t have any feelings of ‘No, this isn’t the right person.’”

The couple settled into an apartment in downtown Chicago so Greg could complete his studies at Moody. There he met and struck up a strong friendship with fellow student Tyson Griffin of Tunnel Hill.

When Greg was finally done with school, the couple couldn’t afford to stay in Chicago any longer and had to move somewhere. But where?“We were ready to get out of the city life,” said Sponberg, a native of Detroit. “I had lived in Nashville and wanted to get back to the South. We had visited the Griffins here a few times and liked the area. It helped that we knew people here already.”

Curb Records re-released the “Resurrection” CD in April 2007 on the heels of the success of “Crazy In Love.” As a result, the title track began to get steady airplay on contemporary Christian radio. To date, the CD has sold approximately 40,000 copies along with an unknown number of downloads, according to Sponberg. However, she continued to do very little promotion for the album, preferring instead to focus her energies on being a mom and building a team ministry with her husband.“Greg’s a dynamic speaker, very intelligent with a lot to say, but he’s modest to a fault,” she said. “I’m trying to get him to speak at more of my appearances.”

Currently Sponberg is recuperating from a C-section following the March birth of the couple’s second child, Luke. Their daughter Summer is 2. Her next appearance is scheduled for May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Wink Theatre at a concert presented by Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church. The event will also feature her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Molly Smith; youth from Tunnel Hill First Baptist; and the Rock Bridge Community Church worship team. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased in advance by calling (706) 673-2085.

After that, the couple plan to resume their ministry full time, traveling around the country. Sponberg’s third album, this one of worship songs, is awaiting release on Curb Records. In the meantime, she and Greg are enjoying being in Northwest Georgia.“The Griffins are wonderful, hospitable people,” she said. “And it’s wonderful to see green and mountains after living in Illinois with the flatlands. We may not stay here long-term, but we definitely don’t regret coming here."

God vs. god.......

I just wanted to take a minute to bring up a topic. A few of us were discussing the "Oprah church" as it is being called this weekend. Today on the Revive Our Hearts feed over on the right side of this blog is today's broadcast. It is entitled, "Learn to Discern". It is a discussion between DeMoss and 2 pastors concerning this New Age movement which Oprah is pushing.

If you have the time, you may read it or listen. It gives some good Biblical information to counteract some of the twisted info which is presented by the Oprah clan.

It is sad to me that so many people can be deceived to believe these untruths. It is scary to me that Oprah has chosen to be so vocal concerning this topic. She has such a following and she is using her influential status to promote false teachings.

How important it is to share the true Gospel of God's love for us! People are searching for an answer to the unhappiness in their own lives. What a great opportunity we as Christians have to share that God is a jealous God and He loves us so much that He wants to give new and abundant life!
